Powering the Future of Towage
60T BP Battery-Powered Hybrid ASD Tug by Vedam Design

As ports and maritime operators move toward cleaner, smarter, and more efficient operations, hybrid propulsion is no longer a concept—it’s a necessity. At Vedam Design, we are proud to introduce our 60T BP Battery-Powered Hybrid ASD Tug, engineered to deliver high bollard pull performance while significantly reducing emissions and fuel consumption.
Designed for Efficiency, Built for Performance
The 31-metre ASD tug has been specifically developed to operate in battery mode for the majority of its operational cycle, making it ideal for harbor towage and port operations where frequent low-speed maneuvers and standby time are common.
By relying on a robust onboard Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), the tug ensures optimal utilization of diesel engine power, avoiding inefficiencies during variable load conditions. This intelligent energy distribution results in lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions, and quieter operations.
Intelligent Hybrid Operation
When higher power demand arises—such as during peak towing or emergency maneuvers—the vessel seamlessly transitions into hybrid mode, combining diesel engine power with battery support. This transition is automatically managed by an advanced Power Management System (PMS), ensuring uninterrupted performance, reliability, and safety.
Performance Without Compromise
Despite its focus on sustainability, the 60T BP Hybrid ASD Tug delivers strong operational capability:
  • Bollard Pull: 60 tonnes
  • Maximum Speed: 12 knots
  • Operational Flexibility: Battery, Diesel, and Hybrid modes

This balance of power and efficiency makes the design well-suited for modern ports seeking to meet decarbonization goals without sacrificing operational readiness.

  • Engineering a Sustainable Maritime Future
  • Vedam’s 60T BP Battery-Powered Hybrid ASD Tug reflects our commitment to innovative marine engineering, operational excellence, and environmental responsibility. By integrating advanced propulsion concepts with practical operational needs, we continue to support the maritime industry’s transition toward greener and more efficient vessel solutions.
