Making deep sea fishing efficient, affordable & sustainable
Vedam is proud to have contributed to the Government’s Deep-sea fishing project by developing an indigenous design for longline gillnet fishing vessels. Thoughtfully designed to be light, compact and hence affordable, the new model uses an efficient hull form to cut down fuel consumption and reduce operational costs for the fishermen. Vedam recently attended a 2-days course in Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) at Powai, organized by Indian Register of Shipping. Roy Thomas and Nitiniesh Awasthi brought back immense insights for Vedam on amended MarPol norms, new measures, best practices and technologies to adopt while designing new ships or optimising existing ones.
