Effective January 1, 2023 vessels are subject to the CII regulation, requiring the vessels to assess the operational analysis. The CII rating can be on the spectrum of A to E, A being the superior and E being the inferior rating. Vessels falling in Category E for one year or in Category D for three consecutive years will have to come up with corrective actions.
