  • Scrubber Retrofit on a Bulk Carrier

    • Vedam successfully executed a scrubber retrofit on a bulk carrier with a deadweight of approximately 60,000 MT for a prestigious client. The installation was completed efficiently within a tight timeframe and challenging constraints, with all work done in China. Following the installation, the sea trials were conducted seamlessly, with no issues reported onboard.
  • Global 3D Scanning

    • We completed two global 3D scanning projects in Germany and the UAE at the start of 2021, delivering high-quality scan data for future BWTS installations despite pandemic constraints. Additionally, we executed a seamless scrubber engineering and installation project, including BWTS modifications, back-flushing provisions, and removal of an existing incinerator. Both projects were completed on time and to the client’s satisfaction.

  • Hybrid Loop Scrubber Retrofit
    • Vedam completed a successful hybrid loop scrubber retrofit for a client, marking the third vessel in this series. Key project highlights include the installation of a backpack scrubber system, integration with the main engine, generators, and boiler, and the efficient placement of major tanks and auxiliary equipment within the scrubber casing. The design required minimal modifications to existing piping and structures. This retrofit allows the vessel to operate globally, accommodating both ECA and non-ECA zone requirements while meeting strict port discharge regulations. By continuing to use HFO, the client benefits from significant cost savings and operational flexibility, all while adhering to environmental standards.
  • Arrangement Plan for Floating Dry Dock Transport
    • Vedam successfully developed a comprehensive towing arrangement plan for a client transporting a floating dry dock from Qatar to Ratnagiri. Our services included calculating the necessary bollard pull to determine the appropriate towing vessel and designing a custom towing bracket for the dry dock. We also prepared emergency towing arrangements, all of which were authorized by the class.

  • Feasibility and Lifesaving Plans for Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs)
    • We completed a comprehensive project involving the conversion of four vessels into Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs) for a client. Our work included preparing a detailed feasibility report and a lifesaving appliance plan that met ERRV survey guidelines. Key features of the converted vessels include accommodation for over 100 people, hospital facilities, rescue scoop and basket arrangements, and fast rescue crafts with a 15-person capacity on both sides. We conducted thorough stability analyses to ensure that, even in the worst-case scenario with all ERRV devices on one side, the vessel’s heel angle remains under 7 degrees. Our plans were endorsed by the class, and the client provided positive feedback on the project’s successful execution.
  • Arrangement and Design for Floating Dry Dock Relocation

    • Vedam successfully executed a project to prepare a comprehensive Towing Arrangement Plan for a client’s Floating Dry Dock, destined to be towed from Qatar to Ratnagiri. Our scope included calculating the required bollard pull to determine the appropriate towing vessel, designing the Towing/Smit Bracket, and preparing Emergency Towing Arrangements. All plans were rigorously developed and endorsed by class authorities, ensuring a smooth and compliant operation.

  • Expert Sampling and Timely IHM Part 1 Certification

    • We collaborated with a valued client on a crucial IHM Part 1 project for their vessel. Our team efficiently executed the project by developing a Visual Sampling Check Plan (VSCP) from client-supplied drawings. We conducted detailed on-site IHM Sampling Surveys at Dubai Maritime City, supported by the client’s logistics and crew. Samples were sent to an accredited lab in Malaysia for testing. Following the lab report, we prepared IHM Part 1, which underwent rigorous review and was submitted for Class approval. Our dedicated oversight ensured timely completion and the successful issuance of the Certification of Compliance (SOC). This project highlights Vedam’s commitment to excellence and our capability to deliver quality maritime solutions within deadlines.
  • BWTS Survey

    • Vedam executed a successful BWTS survey project onboard a vessel, overcoming unforeseen challenges with expertise and precision. Our team thoroughly assessed essential components, including piping, panel, cable, and equipment installations, with special attention to the critical Bypass Valves. We provided a detailed report with actionable recommendations, which facilitated the client’s efficient completion of the installation.

  • Flow Meter Modification

    • We undertook a significant flow meter modification project for a series of approximately 50 vessels, replacing existing flow meters on fuel oil lines for both the Main Engine (ME) and Auxiliary Engine (AE). Recognizing the importance of optimizing fuel consumption, our team designed new flow meter lines based on vessel photographs and markups. We successfully generated spool and arrangement drawings, minimizing modifications while ensuring optimal performance.
  • Scrubber Retrofits for Bulk Carriers

    • Vedam completed two scrubber retrofit projects in early 2021 for bulk carriers ranging from 50,000 to 120,000 MT dead weight. Our experienced scanning engineers used in-house FARO scanners to capture detailed scans onboard, ensuring high-quality data for the retrofit. The challenge of integrating new scrubber casings with existing funnels was expertly managed, with minimal modifications and optimal space usage. The installations and sea trials proceeded smoothly for both vessels. Despite pandemic constraints, VEDAM’s team coordinated effectively with shipyards and clients, applying insights gained to enhance future scrubber retrofit projects.
  • Stainless Steel Assessment for Ship Reuse

    • We completed a project assessing stainless steel availability on a chemical tanker before its shipbreaking process. Our team meticulously calculated the stainless steel present in various parts of the vessel, including bulkheads, ladders, and cargo pipelines, to facilitate its reuse in constructing a new vessel. Using practical and feasible methods, we delivered accurate results within a week, ensuring client satisfaction with the detailed report provided.
  • DG Unit Integration and Pipeline Modification on an INS Vessel

    • Vedam proudly completed a pivotal project involving a 3D scan and design of a new Diesel Generator (DG) Unit for an Indian Naval Services vessel. We meticulously scanned the existing setup, designed a DG Unit to fit seamlessly, and modified fuel and cooling water pipelines for optimal compatibility. Our experts addressed the challenges of integrating the new DG Unit, which required structural adjustments due to its increased power and height. We identified and resolved potential clashes, ensuring no compromise to the vessel’s efficiency.
  • BWTS Supervision

    • We completed BWTS supervision for a vessel. Over a focused four-day period at Besiktas Shipyard, Turkey, our expert BWTS Supervisor guided Shipyard personnel, resolved on-site queries, and inspected materials. Despite a tight schedule, our team ensured precise equipment placement and addressed all challenges, including material mismatches, resulting in seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
